Canoeing to Mud Pond

Date: August 22, 1998
Location: Tripp Lake and Mud Pond, Poland, Me.
Flowers seen: Arrowhead (Sagittaria lattifolia);
Common Bladderwort (Utricularia vulgaris);
Fragrant Water Lily (Nymphaea odorata);
Pickerelweed (Pontederia cordata);
Swamp Loosestrife (Decodon verticillatus);
Notes: My nephew Dustin and I found several large, fleshy, rotting roots floating in Mud Pond.  They stank.  I have no idea what they were.

Sagittaria lattifolia Arrowhead (Sagittaria lattifolia).  3 petals and a leaf shaped like arrowhead.
Nymphaea odorata Fragrant Water Lily (Nymphaea odorata).  These so nearly fill the Tripp Lake bog that it's tough to paddle the canoe through.
