In Search of  Ladies' Tresses

Date: September 5, 1998
Location: Brickyard Trail, Amherst, Mass.
Plants seen: American Fly Honeysuckle (Lonicera Canadensis)
Bottle Gentian (Gentiana Andrewsii);
Fall Phlox (Phlox paniculata);
Nodding Ladies' Tresses (Spiranthes Cernua);
Rough-leaved Aster (Aster radula);
Slender Gerardia (Lycopodium clavatum);
Notes: I set out to photograph the nodding ladies' tresses I had discovered a few days earlier.  As often happens, the photos didn't come out as well as I wanted, but I did find a second, fresher flower in the area, so I may go back and try again.

This is the first time I've spotted bottle gentian on the path to the Bike Trail.

The phlox photo is from the woods behind my house, taken a week ago.
