Folk hero Molly Scott will join November 8 Song & Story Swap

Please come share in an evening of music and stories at the November Pioneer Valley Folklore Society SONG & STORY SWAP.

Molly ScottFriday, November 8, 7:30-9:30 p.m. at the Black Sheep Café, 79 Main St., Amherst, Mass.

Accomplished singer, songwriter and recording artist, Molly Scott, will join the Song & Story Swap as guest performer, accompanied by Bruce Kahn and Ferne Bork.  Molly began playing clubs and coffeehouses in the early sixties as an undergraduate at Smith College, before moving to New York City. There she became an active part of the folk music revival, witnessing Bob Dylan's first public appearance during her engagement at the legendary Greenwich Village folk club, Gerde’s Folk City.

After making her first album, Waitin’ On You, with Prestige Records, Molly Scott branched into theater and television and forged a successful career as a singer, actor and host of her own television show on CBS. Her credits included appearances on the children’s programs, Captain Kangaroo and Sesame Street.

Returning to Western Massachusetts with her family in the 1970s, Molly started the musical group "Sumitra", and turned her talents towards supporting peace and environmental causes, and developing a professional practice as a therapist. She expanded her work with the voice and healing into a therapeutic model called Creative Resonance work which she has been teaching for more than twenty years in the United States, Canada and Europe.

Widely known in the New England area for her music, Molly Scott has performed with the Mohawk Trail Concerts, the Springfield Symphony, the Iron Horse Music Hall, and given many benefits for local causes. Her recordings include We Are All One Planet, Honor the Earth, Sound of Light, and a new live audience recording called Songs of Hope and Healing on the Sumitra label.
