Sue Kranz and friends will highlight April 13 Song and Story Swap

Please come share in an evening of music and stories at the Pioneer Valley Folklore Society Song & Story Swap.

Sunday, April 13 , 7:00-9:30 p.m. at the The Nacul Center, 592 Main St., Amherst, Mass (see map).

Sue Kranz is a singer, songwriter and flutist, who has been performing for the past 30 years, in coffeehouses, house concerts, weddings, benefits, schools, and classrooms.

An elementary school Spanish teacher by profession, she uses music to build a sense of community as well as a teaching tool. She has recently moved to Western Massachusetts from Boston where she taught in the Cambridge Schools for over 20 years. She is a member of the 6 woman performing group Constellations, and has three recordings including "Long Past the Hour," a collection of original songs.

Sue will be accompanied by Cindy Mapes and Jimmy Frances.

The warm-up theme this month is Ships.ships

Bill Staines to perform in concert on May 11

Bill Staines will appear in concert at the Nacul Center in Amherst on May 11Pioneer Valley Folklore Society presents An Evening with Bill Staines on Sunday, May 11, at the Nacul Center, 592 Main St., Amherst. Bill has recorded more than 20 albums and penned several compositions that have become standards in folksong collections — "A Place in the Choir," "Roseville Fair," and "River" to name just a few.

Don't miss this opportunity to hear one of America's top folksinger-songwriters in the intimate and acoustically superb setting of the Nacul Center. The show starts at 7:00 p.m. Admission is $12.

Paul Kaplan will celebrate The Folk Process release on April 18

Song & Story Swap host Paul Kaplan's new CD The Folk Process is on its way from the pressing plant.  He will be celebrating its arrival with a CD release concert on Friday, April 18 at 7:30 pm at the Nacul Center at 592 Main St. in Amherst.

Paul will be performing all fourteen of the songs on the album, and a little more, assisted by two of my favorite musicians, the brilliant Kate O'Connor and Rico Spence on keyboard, bass and vocal harmonies.

Admission will be $10, $5 for seniors and children under twelve, with a maximum of $25 per family.

If you are not free on April 18, you can also catch Paul at the Montague Book Mill on April 25, when he will be sharing the evening with Amherst's Dan Kennedy.  More information is at http://www.montaguebookmill.com/index-3.html
